Some history please
« on: May 22, 2020, 01:17:59 pm »

Good day all and greetings from lock down in Cape Town.  I am looking for information on the tug Zwarte Zee, as i am starting to build a Billings kit of the model and would love to know more about the boat.  Can anyone help? Thanks and happy dreaming - about sailing of course! Brian

Hi SS do you have the wood plank on frame or the plastic hull version?

There is a difference in the scale, the wooden one is at 1 ; 100 scale and the plastic hull one is 1 :90 scale to make a slightly larger hull.

I hope you have the fittings kit as it really is needed.
Good Luck

Have you seen this

Think you found the same as me, the predecessor I think. I've found maybe 3 tugs with the name so far.

Andy M -  A wealth of useful information as usual.  Thank you for the link. I have subscribed to the Museum.  Roycv I have the plastic kit, 1:90.  I was not aware of the fittings kit.  I assume from Billings?  I will check it out. Thanks for the tip. Brian SS

Hi SS In the fittings kit there are all the 200? stanchions and lots of brass items including the anchor winch so it is not cheap.  If you have stanchions etc. in your kit then you have the fittings kit.

By the way if you need to make your own stanchions these are flat bar type as per the original ship.
regards
