Billing's website
« on: May 23, 2020, 12:31:34 pm »

Has anyone managed to visit Billing Boats' website recently? I have been trying for the last few days and just get a '403 forbidden' message. Used to work perfectly.

I'd be interested to know if it's just picking on me or whether its a widespread problem.

Just a mixture of curiosity, looking for inspiration, and any references to the Boulogne Etaples that has just ground to a halt until further supplies arrive by post.
Of course, as I am not a complete beginner, I have several other projects I can work on in the mean time!

I don't think there was much information of any value when the site was up  {-)

Probably get more info on sellers websites and eBay

I look in this search for bargains
https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Billing-Boats-RC-Boat-Watercraft-Models-Kits/87480/bn_7027722075

I got a brand new nordkap for £150 delivered just because the box had a hole in it  {-)

Quite a close match to the search I am doing on eBay right now!

Just tried your first link - someone's selling a Billings Kadet kit for 140 quid! I built one with my daughter when she was 5 or 6, and last year it re-emerged when she was clearing some junk out of her old room at her mum's house, so it is now sitting on a shelf behind me waiting for a good clean and fresh radio so we can sail it together when she's back in the country (living abroad at the moment).

I'm fairly sure I paid less than £20 for the kit from Harrow Model Shop back then. It is over 25 years ago, though.

That's not cheap, especially with the postage from Germany.

Look at the stuff people also viewed - all those packs of Billing's fittings. I remember when just about every model had a rack of those, now you're lucky to find a model shop at all!

(I am one of the fortunate few, though, as I have Howes less than half an hour away)
