Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I can buy waterslide transfers in 1/96th scale please.
 I need draught markings, mainly in metric and pennant numbers for various 1/96th scale models I have repainted.
plenty of 1/350th about but the traditional 1/96th seems to be neglected

 I guess you have used them before so must be good, what happened to the old warships site we used to be a part of?
Anyway, I have sent a mail to them awaiting response and costs.
might take a while as they are not in this Country.

I dont really know what happened to the warship forum, I think there was a lot of problems in the background with Informe
there was a number of people who found accessing it getting harder and then it kept changing passwords etc.
Informe I believe closed down so the same has happened too with the forum.... I think but I cant log on anymore

Hi Alan,  I've just started making my own water slide graphics after a tip from Capt Podge it's really quite easy all you need is a ink jet printer, just a thought.

 Yes I have used my inkjet printer to make some decals, I found it OK but my drawing skills on a computer are not that great. I did make some nice ones for my Lifeboats which turned out fine.
I have used BECC before but the thickness shows when applied, the actual graphics are good but I prefer waterslide decals.

Off course the biggest issue with printing your own decals is you can't print white. You need to pay serious money for a printer that has a white cartridge or tonor.
You can print onto white paper off course but if you wanted white letters you would need to do some seriously tricky cutting around them to remove the excess white border.

I have spoken to Alan about this already but if anyone else is interested, printing onto decal paper with a laser printer works very well if you have access to one. The laser tonor is heat sealed onto the surface and therefore waterproof so once printed you don't need to seal the surface before introducing them to water.
 
The "LEVEL MARK" decal was printed onto white paper and cut closely around the border and the oil filler cap decals are on clear paper, all done on a Canon laser printer.
