So sad to hear, but it was almost inevitable.  Lets get 2020 over with as soon as we can and hope for better in 2021.

Given the On/off situation last year I would imagine that they will be waiting to see how the situations progresses over the next few months ( Although I suspect things may happen in the background) and gauge interest in how many might actually go, I for one will not likely be going to any major events this year.

I’m glad I’m not the only one.
No large gatherings for us until 2022 I find it hard to believe how quickly people are ready to dive in so soon.
We look forwards to days away and away from crowds
Doncaster will be my next show.

Edit
It just occurred to me that at my current build rate I may need my own table by then  {-) {-)
Have a word with Mr King  please Butts  :-)

There are so many "ifs" still relevant.
If no new variants emerge that reduce vaccine effectiveness.
If there isn't a winter upsurge from October.
If the vaccines keep virtually everyone out of hospital.
If the vaccine uptake in younger age groups is high enough to put a lid on infections.
If we are all sensible when restrictions are lifted and the R" and "K" rates don't spike.
If the lockdowns haven't changed people's behaviour to the extent that they won't go to large indoor events.
If traders still exist and are wiling to commit.

It is, I think, too early to know enough answers to make public announcements.

I do feel great sympathy for the organisers who must put in a lot of work that cannot be left until later and might, again, see it all wasted. Do they have the courage, and financial backing, to keep trying?

Most early booking systems have an option where you insure your booking to get a full refund should you need to cancel up to the last day or so  Last time I did it, about an extra £2 on a £100 deal.

I've got to agree with Tug Fanatics list of ifs , though.  Looking around from the relative safety of the inside of my car when I am exercising it to move the oil around, if it is a nice day, there seem to be huge crowds wandering the lake park.  Last summer they seemed to largely consist of people from high rate areas who were indulging in family gatherings in a low rate area.  The 5th and 6th ifs are probably crucial, and the Great British public has never been noted for mass sensibility.

I'm of the same mindset as you Andy, this last year has flown by so waiting another year isn't going to hurt. (might even finish a model by then)  %)

Sadly these are very difficult times for not only us model boaters but for the exhibitions that were, and may not be for another year.It looks unlikely that I will be able to get back to the UK at present for either regatta's (oh they are not happening) or model shows.....all still up in the air. A pity as I miss my modelling  friends, but as we are all aware, safety first. Another year in the big scheme of things is nothing compared to our safety, sad times I know, and may I quote Larry (the long build) I would probably not attend any shows this year as (how can I put it !) I am of an age  {:-{  and over here our vaccine is .....well.......who knows....not coming our way.
Keep safe, and maybe have a thought about shows (sorry to my organiser friends...)

We all wish to get back sailing and supporting the model shows and club events. I personally think 2021 will be a white wash once again. The road map is full of if buts and maybes should any shows go ahead how many people will support them.

This thread really really needs to be unstickied now so that any further comment and information can be relevant to this years show, preferably on the thread for the 2021 show.

Right then this has come from the Horses Mouth Stav as he was one of the organisers who put on the Blackpool show.

NO trader who had booked in failed to show up absoloutly NO trader who showed interest even before booking did NOT show up.

Every single trader who attended were well received and ALL did a roaring trade and not a single complaint off any one of them.

ALL the clubs who said they were going to attend were there.

We took a big financial risk putting the show on for the simple reason of you simply can not run a show with promises of the public attending as many who said they were comming did not.

The actual feedback Iain and Stav had during the show and afterwards was overwhelming to say the least.

As for running the show for Profit You can believe this or Not up to you this is why we try and keep the admission proce down so low, the Show is NOT RUN for profit and any surplus is simply plowed back into the show Furniture.....New carpets New wood for the barriers etc etc etc.

Just to give you an idea to the costs involved our total outlay before the show was in excess of 10K.

Unfortuantly this year we did in fact make a loss and luckily for us we had a surplus so we can in fact bear the loss.

Sat attendance was pleasing to say the least, Sunday was a typical show Sunday down on sat but hey ho onwards and upwards.

As for Next year YES the SHOW WILL GO AHEAD 100%......DATES TO BE FNALISED WITH THE HOTEL

I do sincerely hope this posting quells any rumours going around about None trader attendance and if truth be known we were only 2 traders down on previous years and this was puerly down to Ill Health and retirement
