Single Cylinder Stem Engine - Identification
« on: June 04, 2020, 03:35:25 pm »

Hi This single cylinder steam engine had not been used for years and was seized, it now rotates freely, the bore is cast iron and is immaculate, so I am renovating it and would like to know more about the engine, your thoughts about its manufacturer and construction are most welcome. It is 4 inches tall with a 5/8 inch bore and stroke. Thank you

It's an A.J.Reeves TROJAN with a home designed boiler water feed pump.
George.

George and Frazer, thank you for identifying this engine and for the additional information, your assistance is very much appreciated.
Theres a few bits and pieces to tidy up on the engine, before I run it. I am looking forward to running it so that I can learn from the pump set up. The pump set up is similar to what I am going to install in my new build, so it will be good to gain some practical experience of it and setting the bypass valve to achieve reasonable run times.

It looks like the Trojan but is not identical: the base is different, it only has 3 columns instead of 4 etc.
