Flag stiffening
« on: June 07, 2020, 10:45:51 am »

Good day folks, some time ago in the Model Boats Magazine there was an article on how to stiffen ships' flags to give the impression of blowing in the wind.  Can anyone point me to that article or has anyone some advice for me on how to do that? Thanks. Brian

How about trying some diluted white glue then mold the flag into the shape that you want.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

Now that is an idea.  I was going to try sanding sealer (same kind of thing as dope) but that would discolour the fabric.  Being white, the Alcolin (name in SA) white glue would not have that effect. Thanks.  The article was probably by Glynn Guest (Sp?) but I cannot be sure. He has a lot of good experience. Cheers. Brian

I used sugar dissolves ina little water. If needed use pins to hold the flag until dry.
