Looks great - what are the power valves?

Hi, let me have a guess!  PL 84's? (pentode). Might be 12 AU 7's (double triodes) at the front?  or 13 D 5's (same valve).  PL 84 often seen in TV's  as well.

AAAh the days when the components were all in my sight range, you could spot a dodgy solder joint and we used Henrys and Ohms, the meters all had big dials with a needle that moved.  The valves had stiff prongs at the bottom and glowed in the dark, there also were so many more different circuit components in those days.  Nicely grouped wires underneath all stringed neatly together with whipping string.

Being AC/DC had a totally different meaning!

The warship is not going to find a home at that price!  If it came as a donation I would politely refuse it.  The drive motor might be of interest as also the rudder actuator motor.
Sorry about that I went back nearly 60 years for a moment.
Regards
Roy

Matched EL84'S   2No E88  and 3 AU7'S
My father, a radio and TV engineer had a big wooden box of old valves that I used for sci-fi

I wouldn't touch ancient electronics like that - there's people on here who turn their nose up at cheapo 2.4GHz radio sets but they would be many times more functional and reliable compared to a refurbished valve set.       And would you trust your model to go where you wanted with this POS in control?   I also wonder what voltage battery is needed for it?   100v?

I spent 20 years working with 50KW RF systems - nice big, water cooled valves and TWTAs - much simpler than any solid state alternatives.    I'm a big fan of valve audio - simple circuits, smooth sound, nice overload characteristics - but that's it.

Not long before his death in 1989 I told my father (H.J. Leak) that people were collecting his old valve amplifiers and that prices were shooting up. ‘Must be mad’, he replied, ‘totally obsolete, all that weight, heat, and unreliable valves. Why don’t they buy decent modern stuff?’ But I think he was pleased really.
The design parameters for the company’s first transistor amplifier, the original Stereo 30, included that it should be cheaper to make and sell, and that it should sound at least as good as the valve equipment.

I sold my dad's Leak Stereo 20 and matching receiver for quite a good price in Oz sometime in the 80's  %)

Did you know that Leak had a small factory in Australia making loudspeaker? We shipped out some components, but most was made locally.
