1/96 Sandown Class on the way
« on: June 14, 2020, 01:04:57 PM »

Hello,
Now, my model "commandant l'Herminier" is completed. And why not to start a new model but from a foreign navy: the Royal Navy.
The other challenge is "how to move her ?" 2 voith schneider systems at 1/96 will be very interesting to build.
At first, I've received a jecobin plan. It was the first time I get a plan with so much details.
On the second photo, you should be able to see where voith will be.

thank you for your comments.
As you can see all the main bridge is removable.Full access to the voith schneiders is required.
I wanted to operate bow thrusters but it would have been too heavy.

As you can see in the last post. Voith schneider mechanism are already. I did not made it by my self but my brother did it. He is better than me in mechanic system.
So, on the photo, you will be able to see each part take place in each voith

You can get some small, light bow thrusters on Shapeways. I use the 6mm version of the following on a 1/200th scale Smit London without any problems.

Thank your advice.
The front is on the way with a break water and some lockers above. In few days , I would like to paint the hull and the main bridge.
I 'm looking for the exact paint reference of the royal navy. But I did not find it . It's easier to find a good acrilyc paint when you have a R.A.L reference.
I had so much trouble with enamel ou humbrol paint. Soif some one give me  a RAL reference, it coulb be a great help .

Thank you for your comment.
It's time to spend time to detail the 20 mm gun. It's not an easy design.

Itís a BSI number you want for the grey. Called light weather work grey canít recall exact number but think BS 381C 676 is about right

As per my last comments Midori. A super looking piece of modelmaking. You could put that on a base and it would look great as a stand alone model.

For decks I have used either bSI381C 637 medium sea grey or BSI381C 638 dark sea grey
for anti fouling i have always used red car primer.
