         Details of the kit

A complete set of fittings are included in the kit with all detail parts such as weapons, deck fittings, etc, cast in light alloy and resin.
A sheet of brass etched parts to add the museum quality of details.
Propshafts in stainless steel are cased in brass proptubes + comprehensive instruction  and  detailed instruction book with a C/D of build pictures with over 750 pictures of the original build and other customers models plus a FULL SIZE PLAN in colour assist in the assembly of this impressive model.

The Bittern class were built as light, long-range escort ships with limited anti-air capability. They were fitted with Denny-Brown fin stabilisers and a HACS fire control system.
Three ships were built: HMS Enchantress (originally called Bittern, but renamed before launching in 1934), HMS Stork and HMS Bittern.
Enchantress was the first in the class, and was built as an armed Admiral's yacht. The armament was two single 4.7-inch guns forward and four 3-pounder saluting guns. Anti-aircraft armament was installed at the outbreak of war, however the aft turret, originally replaced with accommodation, was never installed.

Looks very nice and very big in the pictures!
By the way, Admiral's yacht, what's that all about? Anyone like to explain?

I think it was a typo. Enchantress was the Admiralty yacht, not an Admiral's yacht. She would hve been used to accommodate the Lords of Admiralty on official occasions such as fleet reviews etc.

Plenty of info online.

Ah, right. Cheers. Wondered why she was painted almost like a luxury liner! Still a very nice model though.

Hi Colin

I certainly would like to see your build log of your Enchantress, I remember seeing it a few years back at Ron’s open day and was very impressed by it.
Plus I’m interested in getting an Enchantress later on when I’m finished Manxman. :-))

Second that would be great to see Colin's log of Enchantress!

These are an excellent subject - Stork and Bittern also have really interesting details & histories.

I think my grandad was on HMS Alert in 1950 ish which was a later Admiralty Yacht, conversion of bay class frigate

Just don't fit red plastic props - it deserves proper brass ones.

Hi Props depend on the motors you use, and the types
162 destroyer type,( expensive ) ?  25mm  work best with recommenced motors
30mm scale,  bit overpowered  more expensive  and if over driven will make the ship unstable ????
146 standard type 25mm as above but cost less146 type 30mm ditto
props are not plastic in the kit ? , glass filled nylon and scale size ,and very efficient. it you want it to look pretty paint the brass / bronze,  ( cheaper ) in real life they are metallic black , so scale looks ? not shiny brass
and it you use different motors batteries it will all change again ?We can never win on this one so we put in what works, after that its up to the modeller RegardsDeans Marine

I am not to sure how to take this comment... or wether to comment on it.. and if so does in belong in here.. !!

Is it Ironie.. or implying that I have no idea how to build a kit, or my interpretation of what the ship might have looked like...

It was simply meant as a light hearted comment - no malice intended! So please don't take offence. Of course you can build the model as you wish, it is a really attractive prototype and an unusual subject.

It's always the same with the drive chain, there are 4 options, one is the size props you have or may wish to use, then there is the motor and then the voltage on the batteries, which also decides the type of ESC.
So being offered a set up that works then this is what a non-electrics person will appreciate.
For me I am happy to fill the sink with water get out my meters measure the volts and the current at the same time and with my fifth hand use my rev counter to see which gives an economical power in versus power output.  But I like doing that.
Best regards with build, nice looking model.
