Thank you Brian.

That is Soberano Solera Spanish Brandy, it fuels my creativity  :-)  I import it directly from Barcelona at huge saving on UK price if you can find it here in 1 litre portions  :-))

Hi Andy.

Something for you to peruse when you aren't busy building. I think David will pick this up also from here.

Not a lot of use but quite interesting.  http://www.morosinigiovanni.com/Immagini/Prodotti/Media/CatalogueENG2020.pdf

Morning Andy.

Don't know if you noticed this on my Riva blog, but a good way to make sure that the sanding has removed all of the high spots, just scribble all over it with a pencil, the more scribbling the better. Then sand and sand until all the scribbling has gone, then it's done. For a final finish wet the planking with very slightly warm water with a little washing up liquid added. That raises the grain, then finish off with your finest sand paper.
This applies to the mahogany also before Varnishing.
Hope that helps.

Mike

Still waiting for my proxxon delta sander from chronos
Website says delivery may take longer but I informed them that is irrelevant if they take 5 days up to now to process the order before posting  <*<

Good afternoon Andy.

I know exactly what you mean about delivery.
I can't do anymore until some bits arrive, but seems always the one that you need most is the last to arrive, even if you did order it first.
I ordered some varnish a week ago and a replacement brush for the vacuum cleaner Wednesday, the brush arrived this morning but no sign of the varnish.

I'm off to the shed now and maybe tidy something !!!

Typical, but not unexpected, could be worse tho', in Italy a letter to the next door neighbour can take up to a week or more, not that it helps our cause at all.
Fustrated or what,  >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

My varnish arrived very quickly from Brian must be regional differences in courier standards .

I just thought to add in case anyone was wondering?

Amati take absolutely no offence at the alterations we/I do to their kit and readily post my pictures on their facebook pages  :-))
There is also a link there back to my blog a number of times

Busy morning, nice walk into Leeds to the bank in the Sun but the first time I've had to wear a mask to put money in!

Anyway back to it. In case it's not obvious the foredeck needs to be 100% symmetrical for the inlays.
It's normal to plank from centre and alternate left and right but in addition as these are all under a half plank length I was sure to use the same piece for both sides each time. This guards against any planks that might be slightly different widths creating inequality.

Nearly there and I think I will have 4 planks surplus but don't tell Amati !!  {-)

Haha...  Looks like you might have been trying to take (a lot) of money out..!!  All you need is a hoodie.

 :police:

I was in a jewellers this morning, very odd going in wearing a mask and gloves...

Nice approach re using same plank on both sides...  I like that.

My batteries included above could be half this size as they are overkill for ballast

I could easily get under 4KG if it proves necessary but unlikely.

Yes, those are the ones I'm working with.  Seemed to be a good compromise of weight, capacity and dimensions.

Wifey said she'll pay for my batteries so I'm posting it now on the record in case she forgets after maiden voyage  %%

Might be of interest also that the build as it stands has a balance point directly on the line of the motor couplings with batteries fitted.

Maybe you should put the 5000mAh Lipos in a box marked '1/7 scale Aquarama'...

Just a thought...

Now there is a thought  O0

I think I have the shape dialled in? However looking at many pictures of Aquaramas I see a noticeable difference in how extreme or not the curves are.
I assume this evolved over time so varies? If I haven't misunderstood this Amati is based on a 1970 model ??

Anyway it is what it is...
