Rails of Sheffield dumps Hornby
« on: August 25, 2020, 07:12:44 pm »

Seems Rails and Hornby have had a fallout and Rails will no longer stock Hornby products.
 Dear Valued customer,
We regret to inform you that after over 35 years of trading with Hornby, with immediate effect we are unable to fulfil any orders for forthcoming release or out of stock Hornby products.
Therefore over the coming days we will be cancelling pre orders and informing customers personally. We apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience this will cause you.
We would like to make it clear that this only affects Hornby products that are on pre order or out of stock. All our other extensive range of brands are unaffected.

Are these the group that fell out with Hornby a couple of years back when they were pipped to the post by Hornby for making a small engine that they were developing (TV program showed the launch from their returning to the old Hornby site and the invited suppliers got shirty when they relealised that Hornby had nicked their idea)

Hmmm, not sure about that one!
I was looking on Rails site last night as there's a loco Im considering buying. Had a look at some Bachmann's, 269.99 knicker for a dcc sound fitted class 66! The hobby world has gone mad.

Yes it is them
Hornby had not made the terrier for years. Rails decided to make a better version. Hornby got "xxxxx" off with this. Relaunched their terrier all be it a little updated to scupper Rails terrier. Rails brought  out their terrier and it is a better version but more expensive. Hornby have also done this with one other company ,They were small so the back down.
Bachmann, fell out with Hattons a few years ago.
So that the two biggest UK model rail shops losing one each of the two biggest UK model railway manufacturers. interesting.
