DEANS MARINE OPEN weekend 2020
« on: August 19, 2020, 03:20:13 pm »

 Hi All
Latest update on the Deans Marine open days, 18-19-20th September 2020
At present we can ot say for sure what the format will be, or even if it the open days will take place.
Under present regs we will not be able to have the café open ( lack of staff & regulations ) the evening dinner and entertainment will also not be able to take place.
We are very short of staff to man the demos and supervise the showroom ( limited numbers allowed inside) The same for the shop.
Some other traders are happy to attend, at present but only if  the stands are outside. (weather ? )
The display room, overlooking the pond possibly will be able to open  with a marquee attached so it is a outside space  (social distancing rules apply) for any visiting clubs ) weather dependant ?
Any one attending must leave a card or information with contact details, e-mail or phone ?
At present we may only have the shop open on the Saturday and Sunday normal hours.
We can only wait and see and hope to make firmer announcements early September.
 Keep safe
 Regards
 Deans Marine

Hi Ron

Thanks for keeping us updated, fingers crossed we can meet up for a day or two. I’ll be there with some Wicksteed members to display and of course buy some vital model boat related items. :-))

Hi All The Open days in the normal, format can not take place this year due to the present crisis. Due to much pleading from modellers we have decided to run a event on a much smaller scale ?On Sat / Sunday the 19th- 20th September the shop will be one from 10- 4pn both days, we will have 2 marquees, (Tops only no sides) up for any modellers who wish to bring models along and have a sail in the test pond. for protection from the Sun / rain ( delete as appropriate)
The shop will be limited to 2 persons at any one time. Mask must be worn inside any parts of the factory, plus we will be short staffed so please bear with us if service and advise is a bit slow.
The cafe will not be open, so no refreshments on site. Chairs and tables will be out for seating.
The showroom will be open but only 2 persons at any time allowed inside. There will be no building demonstrations.
The exhibition room adjacent to the pond will also be closed. replace with a marquee
Works tours and the factory again will closed to to staff and crowding problems.Any modellers arriving please bring a card/ not with contact detail (phone or e-mail) to hand in before entering the compound.Any club wishing to display will be welcome, we will have plenty of tables out spaced around the compound. Please ensure social distancing in the compound and elsewhere, sanitisers will be on hand in a number of places around the site.It would be appreciated if modellers / clubs can drop us a e-mail if they intend to visit so we have some idea of numbers and we can plan accordingly. plus if you are looking for anything special please let us know as we will them try to have the items on hand in the shop
We look forward to seeing you and meeting some of our friends again in the these difficult time, but I am sure any hiccups will be sorted in the normal friendly manner amongst model boaters. Some nice weather will help Regards Deans marine

Cheeky sod! You wouldn’t  want to eat me anyway- no longer young and tender anymore and I’ve been marinated in enough hydraulic fluid, engine oil and fuel to incinerate me! {-)

You’ll be missed mate, have to catch up later when we can, had some good news today about Wicksteed Park- the campsite is allowed to be used once again as they had to apply for a new license after the company changed ownership so at least we can hopefully camp for next years Mayhem :-))
I’ll buy some bits on your behalf! :D
