1/96 scale aircraft carrier lifts

(1/2) > >>

bowman:
Hi all,
I need some help if possible please, i want to make one of my flightdeck work as in going up and down, is there anyone who can suggest the best way to do this please. My model is 1/96 scale HMS ILLUSTRIOUS.
Kind regards
Ian

ballastanksian:
Hi fellow Ian.

Have a look at Rob47's builds of aircraft carriers. He is working on a CVA01 (I think it's that one) that has working elevators. There are probably others in the archives as well.

Following real life methods is always difficult because the components do not scale in weight, so making the system to sloppy or too tight, where it catches and breaks. Also, balancing the deck is a challenge. But, give it a go!

One option I saw was to use meccano or similar chains and sprockets similar to some real life systems. It would need two motors of the same type and perhaps a way of slowing them down to prevent Vertical take off effects!

bowman:
Many thanks for the information . The meccano certainly has possibilities. I will hunt down the rest of the replies around lifts.
Kind regards
Ian  :-))
