Need parts cleaning advise please
« on: August 28, 2020, 02:38:24 am »

I have a couple on Mountfleet kits that I am starting on and would like to know what people are using to clean the metal fitting in the kit before applying paint. I was thinking of using 99% rubbing alcohol. Would it be to harsh on the soft metal? I assume they have a release agent left on them from the moulds. Also, what is a good cleaner for the GRP hull to use for pre paint prep? Thanks

Hi wrasse - I use 99% alcohol to clean parts before painting and sometimes gluing too.  It works for me by using a small soft toothbrush to get into those awkward places.
