HMS Cornwall
« on: October 09, 2007, 07:19:59 pm »

Hi All
I am going to build HMS Cornwall as my next project. The plans and a lot of photos are of her in 1999 but I want to build her as she is now Oct 2007. She has just gone into dry dock in Devonport and some of the weapons have been removed. I have a very good set of photographs taken last Friday but I still need some more details
My questions are as follows.

What type of close range weapons was she carrying 20mm or 30mm and are they set further back than in 1999?

Did she carry STWS? If not did she carry the magazine mounted torpedoes?
Did she carry decoys
What type, and how many ribs did she carry and where were they stored?
Does she carry a sailing dingy?

I am sure there will be more questions as I progress

Holmsey

PS anyone want the pics of Cornwall.

Holmsey its your lucky day my daughter is going out with an AB on Cornwall  ! So the answers straight from the horses mouth :

  20mm weapons
  STWS fitted - no torpedoes
  DFF and DLH fitted decoys
  2 mk2 ribs carried
  No dingy but MIB carried

Hi Rats
Cheers for the reply, I can make out the 20mm under the covers. The STWS is the tripple torpedoe tubes arn't they, would they have removed them before the refit? Are the ribs twin identical Pacific type or Atlantic type, if that makes sense.
Whats an MIB?

Many thanks for your time

Hi Rob
Yes I will post the build when I start it. I am planning it at the moment and trawling through lots of data. My problem is that I want to model the ship as she was over the last few months and so need up to date info.I had a result on Friday when I got about 50 photos of her being moved into the dock in Plymouth.
