Decoy duck adhesive?
« on: September 14, 2020, 07:24:58 pm »

Hi guys, those of you who have converted a decoy duck to r.c.
What adhesive did you use to glue the prop shaft and motor mount in?

That is a surprise. Araldite in the FAQ say that Araldite doesn't bond polypropylene. Did you do more than just rough up the surface before gluing?

Just roughed up the surfaces.   Did it 7 or 8 years ago, and still OK.

My choice would be bathroom sealant!  It seems to stick to anything, although I have not tried a blanket yet.

This is how a commercial company does a Duck:
http://www.vac-u-boat.com/Vacuduck.htm

and an amateur version of the same basic idea:

alternatively might it be an idea to attach a plate to the bottom of the duck to get a larger contact area?

All sensible workable answers.
Duck Tape?

I expect the bathroom sealant will stick to blankets - it certainly stuck to an old, but servicable work shirt and left it with a corporals stripes.
