Anyone know what Brushless SC this is ?.
« on: December 13, 2020, 07:56:10 pm »

Just wondering if anyone recognises this Brushless ESC as there are no details on the unit. Can only get it going forward so looking to see if it will actually go into reverse and find the programming set up.

Cheers

It is likely to be unidirectional with a programming ability to reverse that without desoldering or uncoupling then swapping two motor wires.
Without someone having an identical twin (which is the best identifier) & without stripping the heatshrink it is possible to guess a ballpark current rating and type of bec. Opto & non-bec option is less likely. You can tell that however.
Google image searches and aforementioned names or Suggestions of "it looks like 2 of mine which came from" Giantcod, Hobbyking Gearbest or other is a starting point.

Removing the heatshrink the electrolytic cap and the FETS (drive transistors) indicate working and absolute maximum voltages. I dentity of Chinese transistors is hit or miss by googling device id which comes in abbreviated form.

It is a chore & also takes some electronic knowhow to find Fet voltage limits in a non-destructive manner.

Is there a colour anodised finned heatsink encased under the shrink? Some series came with scalpel cutouts but not done for the smaller ones.
Note the colours, writing font on heavy gauge cable.

If there is a smartphone app for identifying snaps of plants in less than 1/10 of a second there might be a general purpose web image search engine tool.
Search terms of Tomtop, Goolrc and banggood told me the yellow rectangle brushless format is outdated.

Giantcod search
I think a UK based distribution point, rather than Asia, would be more likely ten years or more ago.

SimonK and Suppo (SP) are likely manufacturers. Mystery escs always seemed to be three blue wires to motor.
Suppo searches by SP + number + A ESC show black motor wires now.

It won't be more than 6s
30 amp, by the cable size, is about right. Cable colouring is significant

Ebay records and printed purchase receipts show some of my rc aquisitions to be many years older than I'd guessed. So I just wonder if AliExpress was popular so many years ago.

Wikipedia entry:- AliExpress is an online retail service based in China owned by the Alibaba Group.[1] Launched in 2010,[
But you know when it came into your hands, I don't.

I wish I could remember and can not find any emails yet about them, but think it was after 2010. If they do not do reverse then will not do for the project in mind.

Switching bec
5 volt switching bec supplying 1 amp dc to a resistor load ( or strip led) would draw around 625mA from a 2s battery.
A fully charged 3s battery is drained by 400mA by the swiching bec spitting out the same 1 amp @ 5 volt
Linear bec
If bec is linear, a current load (by incandescent bulb, strip leds or power resistor) is matched by that at the 2s or 3s supply point.
Linear bec needs its own heatsink or it cooks esc's surface mount fets if they are on a shared 1" square pcb at 12 volts.
This leads to esc destruction at higher voltage regardless of the battery chemistry, the esc brand, its advertising budget or fanboy following.

Looks to me like one of the generic flight controllers from a few years ago. In which case it will be a forward only unit. Most early brushless controls were forward only. I can remember trying to hunt down fwd/rev ones with minimal luck back in the day. Constantly pestering reps trying to sell me the latest unit.. " Does it have reverse?" No being the usual answer!
What a difference a few years makes..
Best advice with this one.. pump jet drive or hovercraft lift motor :-))
