New toy delivered today
« on: October 28, 2020, 04:48:32 pm »

I decided I needed a sander, so I took delivery of one today. I've put it all together and tested it and it runs Ok but not used it yet.

That looks useful, what tasks or projects have you in mind for it?

I have a similar looking piece of kit purchased from Axminster several years ago. A very useful tool.

The way I can best describe its use is for careful & delicate shaping. Although I have a fret saw lines still become a little wavy after cutting so the sander will straighten them out better than hand sanding.

Sounds like you are about as good with your fretsaw as I am.  {:-{

Have you tried it yet?

I should have said 'Scroll Saw' I always think of them as a fretsaw. I haven't used it yet I have just cut out the base for the narrowboat and the next cut is the bow stem so I'll probably get to use it on that, as my cuts can go a little on the wild side and as I had to freehand trace the plan on to the ply there's no telling what shape it will come out  {-)

i've had one for years, wouldn't be without it. However mines a wee bit bigger. 6" disc and 4" belt, bought for doing gunstocks not boats but it works fine.
