Vosper 46" Crash Tender
« on: November 12, 2020, 10:09:15 am »

Hi All

I bought this in 2017 and work on it for a while, but other projects got in the way!!!

So I have restarted again after 3 years !!!

The original builder/owner traded me the motor/ ESC from the boat for a motor and ESC for his new project.

In 2017 I replace the wheelhouse roof with a removable one and made the hatch working one.

I removed the lights and wiring, to replace with LED lights.

Repaired the forward deck and repainted the top of the boat.

Made fenders and the missing boat hooks.

The mast was broken and I replaced the top section with brass tube.

In the box with the motor and ESC I found the water pump, left over stickers and boat hooks!!!

One of the 94 numbers was not on the boat, so another plus!!!

Hi All

Installed the water pump and switch servo, also a small 3S lipo for power.

Both fire cannons require work.

The forward one was block with glue.

The stern one had to be drill both ways, filled to repair leaks.

Sanded back, re drilled and painted.

Both cannons work on the bench test.

Next is to fix in the batteries, ESC and program up the receiver.

May be in the water next Saturday with a bit of luck !!!

Looks fantastic- look forward to your test run this Saturday. It always amazes me that these kits have made what was in reality a relatively unknown boat in RAF service in to such a popular model. Only two real boats were ever built but their memories live on in ways the original manufacturer never expected. Keep us up to date with the test run. She should look beautiful on the plane.

Hi All

A bit of video from Saturday.
Other than water leak which I have to find and change the balance point of the boat.

Not to bad of a run.

At this point the boat is not great on the turns.
