Is this for a static or working model?

Sorry. Should have said. It's a static model Victory.  Derrick.

I would suggest sanding the hull smooth and sealing the surface where the copper goes. Degrease the tiles throughly and then using double-sided tape to fit them. I saw it done with ali cladding on the fuselage of a large scale model aircraft and it worked very well. Like the man says, try it on a bit of scrap first.

I would agree with Dave, people overlook double sided tape which is very useful for stickng on 'fiddly bits' without getting glue everywhere. I have found Hobbycraft tape to be good, it comes in several widths, for example:

https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/stix-2-anything-double_sided-ultra-sticky-tape-35mm-x-16m/563570-1000

The actual adhesive film is very thin indeed so your tape doesn't necessarily have to be exactly the same width as your copper plates to stick down flush.

That's the brand I use and it really does stick well. I also use it for glazed window frames, cockpit and deck furniture. Do take care when positioning parts because they are difficult to remove and replace once the sticky has stuck!

Thanks for your info.  I've ordered some double sided tape!

I used superglue on a model of the Bounty over 10 years ago, easy quick and stood the test of time.
