I'm thinking about taking on this https://www.dumasproducts.com/product/dauntless-kit-1211/  next year, has anyone built one?

Thanks

Dale.

I haven't built this one, but have built two other Dumas kits.  Nice models, good instructions, rubbish quality materials. In both cases I ended up remaking a lot of parts from new material.

Thanks for your reply Barrie, I have heard before that the quality of the wood was quite poor but have also
heard that this has improved lately.
I'll look into it further before I take the plunge :-))

Hi Daleb.
If you are still thinking of building this boat, I strongly reccommend it.
I built one earlier this year and it has become one of my favorite boats to run.
It always turns a few heads when it hits the water at the club.
I found no problems with any of the materials with mine. Although the metal parts are not the greatest.

Here's a bit of a build thread over on Offshore Electrics.

Hi

I built the Dauntless in 2019, launching it in February last year.  For me the hull construction was very difficult, being entirely of ply and spruce, which required being bent to match the hull contours.  However I persevered, much helped by lots of car filler, and am very pleased with the finished boat.  It looks and sails well.  I was very much assisted by the large American forum on this boat as the Dumas instructions are very abbreviated.
