Tugboat at dusk.
« on: November 29, 2020, 11:35:21 pm »

A few pictures of my Smit tug showing her lights. I had to replace the port navlight and took the opportunity to replace both the stb and port with leds. Added a few more lights as well while I had the soldering iron out.
All the best!

Awesome  :-))  but I'm so glad I don't do lights  %%   Very difficult to photograph in the dark too I imagine  O0

I guess mine is closer to Dawn at near 2 in the morning. Not sure if I'm starting early or finishing late  {-)

Thanks Andy!
Yes it is a bit difficult, and I use my phone that has its limitations. Most of the pictures are rubbish and are binned.
Your tug is really coming along great :-))

Footski, thanks! That's very kind of you! :-)

Hi Hama
very nice photos. Nice to see you have given her the black mast. I made it yellow which was very shorted lived.

With newer phones night photos can come out very well.

Thanks John!
As for colours, I painted her as per instructions for Smit London but from what I've found I doubt she ever looked like this. She did get the black mast quite early I guess but i don't think she ever had the all black hull together with the original Smit logo on the funnels? Black hull came when she was Smit Wijs and the blue and yellow stripes on the bow when she was Smit as built.
All the best!

Hama,
Very nice photographs and model.
Is she 1/75 or 1/50?

I had do look very far back to find the build log, apparently I built her in 2008 but it was just the other week that I finally finished her. Well almost, still lacks the zodiac and the magnetic compass. But then!
And the name of course... I built her as Smit London and put the decals on in 2008 or so, but ruined them when I put clear cote on. She has been without name ever since and so I thought I'd use what decals I had left and named her Smit Rotterdam instead. Only to find out that the decals would fall apart and come loose at sea. So, back to square one I guess and now to try to find some new decals. And perhaps go back to her original name of Smit London?
All the best!

Very difficult to get photos that make it look like the real thing rather than a model but you hit the mark with the first photo in each set, excellent!!

Yes have to agree with Chris you would be hard pressed to tell it was a model the low level shots also enhance this,

You'll have me blushing soon! But I really appreciate that you like the pictures, it takes some labour to get them and even if I like doing it it's more fun when someone else like it too.

Photo #4 is very convincing indeed! :) I love a good night shot, but alas whenever I try it, 99% seem to come out bad. :(

Thank you very much!
Please share some photos when your Banckert hits the water. It was one of the very first boats I built but it didn't come close to what you're achieving.
All the best!
