Mayhem / Malwarebytes / TROJAN
« on: December 29, 2020, 02:35:22 pm »

Yesterday and this morning Malwarebytes told me not to enter this site as it had detected a Trojan. Just before lunch I tried again and nothing found so here I am.

Colin Bishop kindly told me that this issue has occurred earlier in the year.

I am unwilling to tell Malwarebytes to trust this site, even if it finds something, as I don't pay for software & then ignore what it is telling me.

Has anyone found an explanation for this problem?

Not had any warnings.
What are the details of the Trojan Virus given by MBytes.

I am not aware that it gave a specific Trojan but just said that it has detected one.

I attach a screen grab of the notification.

I have removed the IP address the grab.

I've been having the same warnings for months now.

I told them to trust this site and it totally ignored my instructions, so I just ignore the warning and hit the 'Continue to Site' button.  >:-o

Searching my Malwarebytes notification history it appears that I had the same problem with this site around Easter although I had forgotten.

I wonder if the problem is with the site or the hosting company or something else?? I don't have the same problem with any other site that I visit frequently.

For peace of mind, I'll run a full site scan now.....   :-)

Just checked mine - the only thing that came up from this website is a tracker called "double click". My laptop simply blocked it

Thank you Martin.
There is something that Malwarebytes doesn't like about this site but I feel much more comfortable now.

My experience has been just the same as Kit - very irritating!

Oh good, I'm glad it's not just me.

Why bother to have routine which is meant to OK what they think is a suspect site, and then totally ignore it when you use it?  >:-o

I tried to contact them to explain the problem, but of course they can't be bothered to do something as low level as to actually READ their emails.......

Although the forum runs in https, additional passive content such as images and video are brought into pages via http,  This is known as "mixed content" and Malwaretebytes is flagging this.

Firefox shows an orange triangle on the security padlock when Mayhem includes http content in a https session.   This is a "data not at risk" security warning.

As clean as clean can be  :-))

Windows Defender is happy and that is quick enough to find real trouble.
Thanks for reassuring with those extra checks.

I had the same issue, it started without warning. I could not even log on to read the discussion about Malwarebytes until the administrator responded to my SOS. thanks Martin
