I'm about 15-20miles west at the moment in Polmont and we must have slept through it. I've heard of the phrase before though -wasnt it talked about a couple of years ago? We had a thunderstorm in Inverness this summer and the windows were rattling, my car alarm went off at one big bang, you could feel the big claps on your face and chest (I was watching from my front door). Had a foot of water on the street outside within 15mins.
I'm glad I drove down from Inverness late afternoon yesterday. It was heading for -10 on the high ground on the car thermometer. Snow all the way to Perth but the A9 was clear.
