piercing saw blades
« on: December 07, 2020, 05:19:11 pm »

Some advice please?
I need to cut some window frames out using 1.5mm ali sheet. Can anyone advise what would be the most effective tooth gauge for piercing saw blades for this job.
Cheers

Many thanks for that Frazer,
I'd been looking at the Cousins site as you recommended on another thread and was a bit lost on the numbering system! I was thinking about the Gold Shark variety since I'll be using a 130mm fretsaw and "V" table. Any comment about the variety?
Cheers

The Gold Shark blades are OK , Iv used them in the past and not had a problem with them . Dont buy the really cheap blades on fleabay as you are just wasting money and they snap very easily.
If you need to lubricate the blade a rub on a beeswax candle helps.
The chart is on the Cousins site in the download section with a few other handy bits of info

Thanks again  Frazer, I hoped you'd used them!
Long use of fretsaw blades has taught me to buy better. It's still possible to break them but sometimes you find an absolute gem in the pack and it ends up lasting for ages!
Kind Regards and Keep Safe!
