new Merchant ship to Deans Marine range
« on: March 25, 2021, 12:21:40 pm »

Dear  modellers
I thought that you might like an update from  Farcet and to let you know what is new to the DEANS MARINE range.   The latest release to the MERCHANT SHIP kit range
  S.S. FALCON           Scale 1/96     Length  720mm   Beam   120mm
First run release price £325.00
         Details of the kit
The fibreglass hull in this kit is with full plating and port detail.  Computer generated LASER CUT 1.5mm H I Ps plastic forms the main tank deck and basic superstructure
A complete set of fittings are included in the kit with all detail parts such as winches, cranes, deck fittings, etc, cast in light alloy and resin . The decking is supplied with laser engraved veneers with planking detail engraved in to the surface,
Propshaft in stainless steel are cased in brass proptube with a oiling tube for easy  maintenance
These, together with a comprehensive instruction and a FULL SIZE PLAN assist in the assembly of this impressive and attractive model.
A colour scheme, plus a set of decals,  are included in the kit to add the finishing touch to this kit model as a worthy and much requested addition to our merchant ships range.
The ship was built by Troon shipyard and launched into the GSNC fleet in 1927. on a tonnage of 1038 tons with a three cylinder triple expansion engine working from 2 x 14ft diam  boilers at 200 lbs pressure this gave a speed of 12 knots
Her first Captain was Capt  Acors who remained as her master until his retirement in 1930.
One of the more unusual cargoes carried by this ship was for seawater from the Bay of Biscay transported to the London Aquarium at London Zoo and horse from Ireland to Scotland, and back. Hence the unusual design of the hull with high forward bulwarks to cope with the short stormy waters around the north sea coast and the 4 cranes for handling horse and livestock
 Regards
Deans Marine
