Hi, found another old photo, this time of 164 after she was sold out. I notice the arguments of the shade of Buff paint, another anomaly not always known, is that individual crews would mix extra varnish into thier paint. This was to gloss it up and make it last longer, this had the effect of darkening the buff, when I was a Chatham hand it was not an unusual thing to do, I remember the Oilpress crew overdid it and the paint dried a browny colour, so they had to repaint the vessel. Also ther Captain of the Port inspected the vessel every 12 months, then the vessel was painted up as though ex refit and all brass fixtures would be polished on deck.
