Hi Stan;

Yes,I have ever seen the cool picture of "USS Gambier bay task force" several times so far in the internet.! :-))
In the next time,I would love to see USS Cophee task force sailing on the water.  :D
And the "show window" in the background looks also nice for the task force as well.!!

Hi all;
Well,then getting back to the Najade,,,,
Upper deck was reinforced,,
Both sides were measured to confirm if they were the same height after sanding..
Drilled some holes based on the instructions,,

Hi all ;
Today's pics of building work are as follows;

The upper deck was checked using light weight on the surface plate to confirm if all lower edges around the deck
met the surface plate completely after sanding.
Sanding work continued as far as almost of all the edges met the surface seriously.

Hi all;
Today's pics of the windshield sanded carefully not to damage the surface are like these.
The last two pics are the final state.

Hi all:
Sanding work is almost of all complete and temporarily assembled to see how she looks.
She looks sleek and glamourous depending upon the angle to see.
When it comes to sailing on the water, glamourous image I think is so important to appreciate
and enjoy the sailing figures and her motion while RC operating the boat.

Cooling water is outgoing well even at slow speed.The brushless motor is sufficiently cooled even
in the mid-summer daytime. :D

Hi Backerther, Could I ask what option you went for when it came to fitting the batteries and also what you used for the steering servo. Thanks.

Hi Westlink;

 So nice to have your questions on my Najade and sorry having been so late in replying. ok2
As for batteries layout, see following pics.
Steering servo set in the pics was Japanese-brand Futaba S3003 standard servo as I am a Japanese. :embarrassed:
This level of servo is I think suitable  and sufficient to steer Najade even when she runs the motor at 24000RPM
on the water.,,,, %% But I make it a practise to sail at  much more lower RPM on the water to enjoy the scale like atmosphere
to suit her appearance.

Attention to a digital V meter seen in the Pic No2.
This is to check the voltage at a glance after each run which is indispensable for my operation of RC models.
Please enjoy building your Najade spending a lot of time to get the best result. :D
The beautiful "Najade" will surely respond to your efforts.!! :-))

Thanks Backerther for the excellent photo's, as well as the batteries I can see how you have done the wiring. That is one fault with the instructions, the pictures are very small and they are black & white, very difficult to make out where things go. Also I have found a servo with similar spec to the Futaba S3003, which was in a box of bits that came with my already built tug boat so things are progressing well at the moment . Thanks for your help.

Hi Westlink;

One more important I should say is the selection of screw joint.
The motor I selected was very powerful and high RPM as its KV value is 2050(over24600RPM at 12V),
1800watts(2.41HP) and drawing 100A/18.5V.
Moreover,the battery I am using is 5000mAh25C capable of discharging 125A at Max.
If the screw joint should have a malfunction on the water ,sailing some 10m off your position...??? <:( <:(
Mine is disk type coupler which is OK over 20000RPM as it is the industrial grade made in Japan.
 See above pic of tachometer showing 24100RPM.The joint is so calm when rotating at high speed.
Take care of the selection of the joint.

In the images from the 27th January, you show 2 different shaft couplings.......the first with a blue synthetic disk sandwiched between the coupling halves, then the second which appears to be a 3 piece arrangement style coupling with flexible metal disks

I know these couplings style rather well, as Big Brother sized couplings as fitted to Americal Naval Gun mounts & Missile Launcher hydraulic systems

So whilst these multi Disk Plate Couplings can accommodate a certain level of torque thrust, the alignment requirements between driver & the driven are absolutely critical...with a TIR of 0.0"

You mention 1.8kW as available, and in your drive, this literally has the capacity to be an instantaneous load moment  <*<

Have you checked the Disk Plate Coupling manufacturers rating? ....and why did you remove the blue synthetic disk sandwich type?

Hi derekwarner;
Thank you for your good questions to the point.! O0
Yes,surely there are two kinds of couplings in my pics,  blue oldham's coupling and double disk type one.

Oldham's coupling I used first was very noisy,especially at high rotation and I felt it unsuitable for higher rotation
of motor when testing on the desk.Therefore I changed to present double disk-type one based upon manufacture's data /specifications and description which I thought them OK for my purpose.The price was about USD 23.
Main features refereed to high torque,high RPM up to 24000RPM,flexible against mis-alignment like eccentricity,deflection angle as well as endplay, and also said "universal" as a coupling. Mis-alignment as you know is so fatal when running the boat at high speed on the water. <:(
With this coupling and others,mine I feel is comparatively calm,especially at high speed.

As for 1.8kw,this is also of course from the specifications of the manufacture which I can't help believing it when I buy.
Hope this helps.

Hi all;

Pics for today are how she looks temporarily assembled.
Sanding work at this stage is almost done as for the whole hull.
Next, the small parts to follow.

Hi all;

Pics for today are the work of shaping the radar mast?or radar base?,which I don't know how to express
in English. {:-{

 Just cut and sand the edge precisely and neatly.

Would probably be best described as radar arch.

Hi JimG;

I do thank you for your kind instruction on technical term of the boat.
This boat is as you may know made in Germany and therefore illustrated in German which was most troublesome
to build the boat. {:-{

Hi all ;
The radar wing or platform? is shaped like these and attached to the radar arch
and also the assemblies were attached temporarily to the upper-deck to confirm how they look.
Right and left symmetry was checked if any to be found possibly coming from slight deformation
of thin plastic material.

At this stage,opening of the upper-deck for the upstairs is also shaped neatly.

Hi all;
I have been a little busy with my job as well as enjoying to operate RC ground models in the low mountains
for the trail runs in this season.
Then,getting back to my subject of the Najade, overall impressions have come out at this stage clearly as shown.
The final figure will soon appear.!? Already appeared?? {-) :D

Hi all;
Today's pics are the Najade with an additional swimmer's deck of my own building style.
1;This is Krick's version !
2;I added the swimmer's deck! %% But, some other boat enthusiasts also made this part since a real boat has it. %)
  That's why I simply added the deck based on my own design and idea.
  I personally think that Najade looks better and smart with the deck than original one of Krick version....?? O0 {-)
3/4/5;Starting to make the deck with scrap plastics material ,and cut and build them properly.
to be continued.

Don’t rush it - that’s the key?

I have had to slow down on my Javelin refurbish to allow me to plan it properly and source the right items (with invaluable helpful insight from experienced modellers on here!)

What amazing creations (not sure I’d have the time and patience (or skill!) for a large carrier but it’s great to look at your efforts.

If there is any German you need a hand with translating let me know although it’s a bit late now I guess!

Would be interested to see prop size and water pickup arrangement on the underside.

Hi Stuw;

Here you see are the pics in reply to your interest.
1;Props I am using. These 2 are for spares against emergency.  Dia 35mm
2/4;prop and water inlet. Shape of the underside around prop is very strange but effective to push the water flow
back.
5; Wakes by the prop look powerfully to be  pushed back in a long row...?
6;Cooling water is seen even at low speed that means sufficient amount of water is supplied to the motor
as well as to ESC.
7;I like a scale-like speed as she is not a racing girl at all.! {-)

Hope the above helps

Thanks for the photos. So the water pickup pipe doesn’t protrude far into the flow but still works well. I shall look to replace mine with something less draggy such as this.

I think I made mine out of some plastic connector not designed for the job but it worked well. It’s just a bit messy and as I’m going to refurbish and repaint I might as well tackle this.

Lovely looking boat, nice work as usual.
I took inspiration from your post of your axial crawler and trailer and decided to start making a trailer for my crawler.
 I might get on to finishing some of my boat projects now I have seen how good yours looks.

Hi Andy M;
Thank you for your favorable comment on my boat.
Operating RC models are so enjoyable regardless of their kinds,water stuff, ground stuff and air stuff as well.
Operating RC models are so interesting as well as building them for me. %%
I'll restart posting RC ground models again in the near future as you are doing energetically.! :embarrassed:

Hi all;
Getting back to the subject of Najade
Swimmer's deck has been  nearly completed to the final shape after sanding the round edge neatly with some jigs
for airplane's wing sanding.

Hi all;
Good morning from Japan.! It's a fine day today and well then,should we go to the subject for today.!?
1;Sanding work is now over as shown.
2/4;Test fitted....... and OK !to my own standard.!
With this work,fundamental shaping work of each part or their components has been done and next comes
building the running mechanism.!

Hi all;
The building work for today is to set a tray for running mechanism.
This work just looks simple and easy to do ,but very important to do neatly and securely.
There are mainly two reasons,one is to strengthen the hull,the other to refrain from generating noise and/or
 vibration as well,to be caused by the high RPM brushless motor and its connected parts.That is because I used CA and two-part epoxy adhesive as well as sufficient time to set.
This boat is made of thin ABS plastics in every part so that secure adhesion is always indispensable.

Based upon the instruction manuals, I drilled many holes and dropped CA followed by the epoxy and time to set sufficiently.
Consequently,the hull is comparatively calm even at 24000RPM of prop except the metallic sound like a turbine revolution. keeeeeeeeen :D
