Axial SCX10 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 1/10
« on: January 11, 2021, 02:50:59 am »

Hi all;

I have been enjoying this car since last September when I got it.
Recently, I modified the transmission to two speed with the disassembly of the transmission.
It works well and runs much faster as seen in the following video.
This day,it ran 5.8kms on moderate terrain at my local river side. :embarrassed:

I made a minor modification to the transmitter as shown below, but it is very convenient to operate the car outdoors.
The modification is aimed at setting a shift switch holder unless it is,I have to keep the switch constantly in the two speed
driving.It is troublesome when doing so. %%

I attached a "fuel gauge" to the rear of the car by which I was able to confirm the battery conditions whenever necessary
at a glance while driving.! Very useful for me to drive the car for a long distance or other hard terrain. O0

Hi number-1;

Thanks a lot for your kind comment on my posting.! :embarrassed:
This car is a kind of artificial and practical dog to be able to run on the field together with me.
So "the dog"could follow me about  8kms for a walk the other day in one battery of 3S5000mAh lipo
with still keeping more capacity to run longer with no complaint against me.! %% {-)

I got a trailer to be towed by the jeep.
And I found it necessary to modify largely,,,,, :((

Pics for today are as follows;
Home-made tow hitch and trailer are connected like these.
But,the trailer itself does not stand alone...Needs to be modified next,,, :((

Looking really good, did you make the trailer yourself?

Hi Andy M;
Of course, not ! Chinese-made, but so inexpensive.
Instead, I have modified the trailer to suit my way of usage.

Hi all;
I made a support rod for the original trailer to let it sit on by itself.
An umbrella repair part played an important role for this modification work this time. %%
The two-wheel ready-made trailer does not sit on by itself when not in service.
This is retractable support rod.

to be continued..

As you go over rough ground and the trailer following is either still on the path or the rough terrain, how well does it pivot ? what angles can it get to, i.e. left and right up to and over 90 degrees as the hitching point is a rod through the cleat on the trailer vertically, but up and down what is the largest angles and the twist action where the truck is flat but the trailer is at say 45 degrees with one wheel on the track and the other on an incline?

 Hi Warspite;

Thanks for your so good questions to the point.! O0
This trailer will not go with the Rc crawlers at all on such rough terrains, as it will be completely  impossible to follow the crawlers in some cases.
I made this trailer to run with the crawlers only on good terrains like in the local parks or the riverside field.
Normally I do not carry the trailer in trail runs naturally.

I will use the trailer such as the following places in the pic1 through 4...

Hi CarlC;

That's right.
I made it 2-speed mission additionally by disassembling the transmission the other day.

Hi all;

And I made this support rod of the trailer retractable simply with a spring like these.
But I am not still happy with this idea after completion.... {:-{

Hi all;

And I modified the retractable support rod to retractable support wheel as shown in the pics below.
It was like a nose gear of the RC airplane which I used to enjoy the flying when I was young...  %%

Hi all;

Today's pics are the number plate to get a scale realism as this is a kind of scale RC crawler.
But rear part of the car is occupied by the digital display unit of the voltage instead of the number plate...
This unit is much more useful for me to grasp the conditions of the battery when running in the field.

Hi all;
I converted the  front guard of another Tamiya car after a little modification to this Jeep Gladiator to protect the important
front part not to be damaged when running in the field. :-)
