What would be typical colours for the walls, floors and ceilings of internal cabins and companionways of British tugs through the 1950s to early '80s.

MT Meeching - 1960 - British Rail. Walls - very light green (formica sort of stuff), ceilings - white, floors - dark red except for galley which was a black/white chessboard pattern of tiles.

Many thanks Andy.
I was trying to think back to the mid/late 1950's when I travelled regularly across the Solent and Spithead on the IOW ferries but all i could remember was a dirty sort of beige for the walls. Probably caused by the large number of smokers then!
Cheers, El Ken.

Forgot to say the floors and walls in the officer's mess and my skipper's cabin were a grainy beige colour. Might have been that formica stuff again. Meeching is still about but in a rough state. These two pix taken last year show the wheelhouse and skippers cabin.

PS. My father was the skipper for many years. Kept her as smart as could be. He'd be rolling in his grave if he saw her like this.

Thanks for the pictures they are a great help.
The drum of castrol on the bridge is a nice touch which I must incorporate into my model!
Cheers, El Ken.

By the way Andy if you have any more photos of a similar ilk I'd be pleased to see them.
It's not often that we get access to such detail especially of interiors.
