Just for the fun of it and I like to build things with a bit of a mechanical challenge
Also to confuse Ooya :-)
Keep well

Thanks Phil, I love these wee mechanical puzzles. Basically as the rotating cylinders piston moves it causes a change in pressure in the glass bit (hot cap) this change acts on the displacers shaft making it move this then moves the hot air to the rotating cylinder (power cylinder) as the air is heated it has a positive pressure this pushes  the power piston. The flywheel inertia keeps the thing going
Bet you're glad you asked :}  Only a vicar could come up with the original idea Rev Stirling
Sounds simple but it has taken nearly two years worth of swearing to get it to run and its only due to Huib Visser in the Netherlands that she finally became a runner.
The problem was standard reamers gave too much clearance so I had to make some tool makers reamers 0.0004 undersize and make all the pins and bushes from hardened steel. All lapped in with tooth paste. All getting a wee bit to accurate for my shop
I used to build steam including flash but now find these things more challenging although I keep building the odd steam launch now and again
Keep well
cheers

Looks amazing, does it have a practical use , how much power does it produce.

Glad you like her.
It just has enough power to drive itself, just a coffee table novelty and it keeps me out of mischief well sometimes
The helicopter drawings are on the net another fun project that just pushes the boundaries of what these wee engines can do.It is driving the two rotors via bevel gears and the drive saps a good bit of the few watts available
I keep thinking of building one for a small launch or a 16mm loco . The tractor has a bit more power after making a few mods to the original design
Keep well
cheers

Hey Guys,
Don't get carried away with this, it's just an illusion.
It's the same with the pics of the 2- dogs he says that he has, but I know he only has one.
He's a Magician he does it all with mirrors, it's Magic, just like some of the other things he says that he makes.

Don't worry Phil, he will never get it in a boat.
