Cos, it was a tad tricky to line up, however it will be nice to deploy in the lake close to the jetty

After watching the vid after several uploads onto other forums, I am still amazed to see how little Nord Icelandia is actually affected by the movement of the A-frame as it transits the arc with the sub in the cradle.

the two loose wires are the feed wires to the two micro servos on the A-frame itself.  eventuallly when all the cladding is done, they are going to run tight to the arms.

its a resin crane and resin RIB from sirmar, however the idea hasn't gone un noticed, I do have two spare channels as well.

progress, and a slight change of the frame.  rather than having the doors form a cradle, the sub is to be gripped using compression pads made of rubber, making it easier to lift off and place onto the deck cradle

Working to an idea off our very own STAVROS has been used, run the servo wires down the INSIDE of the arms.

Stavros, Thanks for that idea, works a treat!!!! O0 O0

its possible, though will need a lot of highly invasive surgery on the back hangar, there's a huge wooden beam at the base of the end wall that is used to mount the wall to, however i did think of it, complete with reversing siren as well.

the red section is going to be plated over with a roller shutter

dicky, its stable :) early sailings have been done with the old A-frame, and yes she rolled a little, however a ship like that is slow and lumbering.  what makes it look top heavy, is the fact that the aft deck is so low, and the fore-deck raised so high.

some measurements taken from waterline based on a draught of 50mm
freeboard - aft deck 10mm (to base of freeing ports NOT including bulwark height)
freeboard forward - 45mm (to deck level NOT including bulwark height)
height to centre of cradle on A-frame - 140mm @ top dead centre
height to bridge roof - 150mm

if i think it is rolling excessivley in turns, simple answer is to turn slower with redced rudder through, unlike tug kenny i wont be endulging in aggressive driving ;)

driven carefully, this, as nicely demonstrated by the red pelican driven by Tug Kenny...

...shouldnt happen.

that roll over was because of enthusiastic driving, its a research ship not a speedyboat.  O0 O0

In all fairness real ships role/list and have to slow when turning  O0 so slowin down to turn is very real

offshore, i have found that she rolls a little in corners anyway, hence epa set at 30% power.

To reduce the likelyhood of water getting inside the lower section where the motor is the aft deck's access hatch is screwed down, a lesson I learned from the red Pelican, as a result Nord Icelandia has some protection against Redpelicanitis.

there's a full build log on RC GROUPS in the dock talk section, by the way, nice U16 i saw there.

 O0 Ta

Maybe some bathroom silicone selant would do the job? Could then run another wire from the battery/batterys along so you can get to them with out taking the hatchs off? That way you could charge the batts in the boat ( so no need to pull the hatchs up alot )

All the best

I can now RELAX, all i need now is the plastic filler and some odds and sods, structurally there is just one job to do, a control room off the aft hangar, and maybe, just maybe a small scafold frame with a antenna ball on the top, though that item can wait, give me something to do at a show or something.

Once the structure is filled, I can then paint her up how I want her painted.  but for now, sit back and relax!!!

something to ponder..

on an idea given to me by The Long Build, about having the zodiac crane working..

to do that I would need 4 relay switches, 5 Y-leads a sail winch and another servo.

here's the idea..
take ch5 and plug in a Y-lead, then into that Y-lead plug in 2 more, giving me a 4-way splice.
plug each relay switch into that.

take the other two Y-leads, break either signal or live, and feed that wire through the switching contacts of the relay switches. then plug those into the required channels, and plug the servo extentions into those Y-leads.

so in 1 position the a-frame and grab work, the other position its the crane.  which wire do I break!

A great achievement mate and you must be congratulated for all the work. You did not work from a plan and the design was from your head it is first class and puts most plans to shame. Well done.
