Suspension of my Grand Banks Build
« on: February 04, 2021, 10:50:29 pm »

Hi guys sorry to post this but I have decided to suspend all work on this build until the end of the month. The cold spell makes it difficult to build in my garage even with some sort of heating and I need a break from this project.

Sometimes a break does you good and rekindles the enthusiasm. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long for you to be back Stan..in the meantime, keep safe and well.

Hi Stan I've just seen this and I agree with the other posts.  We all sometimes need a bit of a break and I agree its horrible working feeling cold.  I'm looking forward to when you restart your build!

Thats great news Stan  :-))   I only build in the house now mate even when I've got loads of sanding on the go.  My wife does not mind me making as mess - she has a problem if I leave the mess  {-)   So I always clean up and tidy up properly and she's happy and I'm nice and warm

Yesterday It took all day to find a stockists of shellac sanding sealer. Having now purchased this it means I can do a little more indoors this week

What make is that Stan? I like shellac as a wood sealer. The best I have at the moment is some French Polish which isn't quite the same thing.

My fishery cruiser has a balsa and ply construction 'plated' with gummed paper strip applied with diluted cascamite and sealed with shellac. Gives a really good finish.

Recently I have been using Deluxe Eze Cote and Sand 'n Seal as an alternative.

Great, thanks Stan. There's nothing like crushed beetles for ensuring a good finish. Totally organic modelling!
