Skeg for MMM 1/32 TID
« on: October 15, 2007, 02:05:28 pm »

I still rank myself as a beginner, though I have built a couple of models with all parts supplied.

Now I'm getting into a MMM TID tug and hope someone can give me some guidance with respect to the construction and attachment of the skeg. It looks to me from the plan that there are separate upper and lower parts to the skeg, and that it has a thickness less than the diameter of the stuffing tube.

I'm not at all clear how to proceed, so can you please advise re materials, construction and attachment? Pictures of that part of the model would help too, if you have any.

Have a look at the TID172 website, there are 2 pics of the skeg area - not too clear but helpful. I have attached a pic of the back end of my 1/20 TID, now in the hands of AN Other. You will see that I have made the bottom section streamlined whilst the upper is flat sided, tapering in from almost the full prop tube diameter - this seems a reasonable approximation of the plans and TID 172 pics.
Hope this helps.
