Acoustic Exciter...
« on: February 21, 2021, 08:24:00 pm »

Hi All

Just wondered whether anyone's tried these devices to produce sound (engine sound) from a boat hull, and if so, did it work..?

If, like me two days ago, you had no idea what an 'Acoustic Exciter' is, they're basically a speaker without a cone that attaches directly to a surface and vibrates that surface to generate sound.

I've got a small 3w 8ohm Dayton Audio DAEX13CT 13mm unit on its way to test, I'm thinking to attach it to the underside of my Aquarama bow deck (currently in build). £8.00 from Amazon, we'll see. I'm hoping to get better bass than from a similar conventional speaker as they tend to be small...  Actually the sound amplifier I'm using has two channels, so I'll be using a conventional speaker on one channel, and try the Exciter on the second.

I'll post the results.

David.
