Acoustic Exciter...
« on: February 21, 2021, 08:24:00 pm »

Hi All

Just wondered whether anyone's tried these devices to produce sound (engine sound) from a boat hull, and if so, did it work..?

If, like me two days ago, you had no idea what an 'Acoustic Exciter' is, they're basically a speaker without a cone that attaches directly to a surface and vibrates that surface to generate sound.

I've got a small 3w 8ohm Dayton Audio DAEX13CT 13mm unit on its way to test, I'm thinking to attach it to the underside of my Aquarama bow deck (currently in build). 8.00 from Amazon, we'll see. I'm hoping to get better bass than from a similar conventional speaker as they tend to be small...  Actually the sound amplifier I'm using has two channels, so I'll be using a conventional speaker on one channel, and try the Exciter on the second.

I'll post the results.

David.
