RC Crawlers
« on: February 26, 2021, 02:24:43 pm »

Recently returned to model boats, but have been building and driving 1/10th crawlers for a few years, particularly like doing weathered trucks.

I've stuck to model boats but I do like those. Nicely weathered.

Very nice. I particularly like the first & the Unimog.

What chassis do you use?

Is there a standard modestly priced introductory chassis that is repairable & for which bits are likely to be available for some time?

The first one is a GMade Bom, good trail truck, verdict is still out on it raw crawling capability.

The next 2 are Teaxxas TRX4s, one sport and one with 2 speed transmission and unlockable diffs.

The Unimog is an Axial SCX 10 ii, but on the Mog the wheelbase is considerably shortened.

The are all kit builds, and all but the Mog have custom bodies, the Mog just has a custom paint job, and a few custom accessories.

I have a few others, a high end Vanquish VS4-10 Ultra, and a custom build on Element Enduro running gear and a cnc cut chassis.

If I was looking today, for a kit to get started with, I'd either go SCX10 ii, or Element Enduro builders kit.

I love these things    :-))    I would like to own one.        I make Lego Technic trial trucks - nominally about 1/14 scale - there's some good youtubes showing them in action.

Thank you for the information.

The Elements Enduro Builders Kit looks like serious kit.  :-)

Hi CarlC;

I also have enjoyed a trail run for 4km very recently by 1/10 Gen8, though it is RTR version only. :((
I originally tried to run about 6km ,but steering servo became out of order through the steep and rough
terrain. <:(

I have a variety, a RC4WD warn winch, some cheapo ebay ones and some servo winches. The servo winches I make myself, by gutting a servo of the electronics, and just running power to the motor. Add a spool for the winch line, and an external winch controller (some okay ones on ebay too). Then the winches are controlled by a 3 position switch on my TX.
