Rebound of the "Henriette" - Windermere launch.
« on: March 14, 2021, 08:21:55 am »

Hello !A long time ago, I had the opporunity of buying a Max Hemmens plant missing in my collection.
Untill a friend  proposed me one butinsidethe boat.
The boat being a Windrmere launch , it doid not take too long for me to make my decision. Although I prefer to build myself, but why not ? Said I !
The seller has been looking for the proper box to pack and finally send me the lot safely.
Photo 1.

I received the parcel some days later , in one piece , perfect packing, and excited as a young boy at his first weeding night , I opened up the box.
I was not impressed with the « Henriette »  but all my attention sticked to the plant. LOVELY  and in a good shape.
The first thing to do is to test it. Said I  ! (Please, note that I often speak to myself , even if this does not avoid arguments ! ;-))
As we can see on the photo, the gas canister was heated with coiled up silicone . I do not like this too much as I prefer to know exactly what is the gas pressure. so I installed one of my gas tank with a gauge mounted on and did a test.
A bit lo,ng to,rise the pressure but after 9 min the gauge needle started to move up.
Sounding good. Just need to clean the jet !
Finnally, happy with the test I took the plant out and I started to work on the hull itself.
Litele by little the boat rebounds.
Regards.

Short video of the sailing before restauration.
The steam pressure is low and the boiler does not supply enough. In fact this is because of wrong propeller. New one on order !!

Hello !
You are right Derek  ! I should install a steam diverter to help in turning port @ starboard .
This is not a big deal to connect it will go along the chimney .
I forgot to show this pic.
Kind regards.

That's a really beautiful steam plant. What propeller size are you using? The one in the picture looks small for such an engine.

Looks good - is there an oil separator for the exhaust and a condensing oiler for the engine as I couldn't tell from the pictures.

Looking good

Cheers

Hello!
Thanks for your kind comments ! :-)

The propeller is a 50 mm - 3 blades - RIVABO. This is not the best choice and a 60 mm Propshop would improve a lot . I need to change it !
The oiler it self is perpendicular to the steam inlet. It is visible on the photo.
The de-oiler is still on the shelves . It is planed to be between the engine and the wall. Do not repeat it but , I am definitely suffering of a kind of heavy procrastination !! .... :embarrassed: {-)
Regards.
