Back to models after 65 years!
« on: March 16, 2021, 08:55:15 pm »

How to cope with COVID? I have built a Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter based on a Cariad hull. What have I learnt?
How to cast lead (eventually). How to use fibreglass and resin. How to use servos and r/c kit. Where to buy stuff. Silver soldering still some way to go. The joy of construction and making things
Meeting and talking to really nice people. Seeing what they do and why I am still a beginner.
Knowing that you never stop learning even when you are 80

I live North of Bristol and look forward to meetings of the Woodspring  lub when things get easier

Welcome aboard SB. The more youngsters the better. I think that a lot of us, like you, have found our hobby to be our salvation during the pandemonium. Yes one of the greatest pleasures is learning new skills even at our age.  Great crowd of guys on this forum , always quick to help with advice and encourage. I too have been struggling with silver soldering, many things have to be just right to be successful, fortunately soft soldering usually suffices for me.  Look forward to some pictures of your build (when you have a few post credits and the forum software allows)

Cariad sails beautifully, you have chosen well, you will go far :-))
