Does anyone know of any manufactures that produce quality made mini steam engine and vertical boiler set
like the German made Hielscher mini Andreas  Thank you

I can add that KaCio in China makes a mini steam engine-- in fact they call it the "Mini"-- it is 2 cylinder single-acting wobbler, 6mm stroke x 9mm bore(.5cc), and it runs like a champ from my first experience. I steamed it from a Saito OB-1 boiler as you can see in this video:

This little 2" long engine is like a gem-- it turns easily, comes complete with a tiny oiler, and is truly an amazing value -- I bought it from Enginediy.com for only $77 USD.


I know there are other 1cc engines made in Europe but I don't know details. (JVC?) and I don't know the Hielscher, sorry.


When you find a mini engine please let us know its size, and  the size of the boat you intend for it. Also a Mr. Les Proper on YouTube has several tiny engines and he shows you how to make them, and the boats they can go in.

Thank you for posting appreciated, enjoyed your video Carl KaCio and Saito OB- 1. See you can get the little oscillating, twin engine direct for Hong Kong, did not see it on
Enginediy.com ? Although it does not provide a boiler to match the engine, it does state boat model size total length of less than 40 cm ? small just what I was aiming for in size correct my if wrong) a boiler such as the OB -1 would not fit into the equation at that model size boat ?  . Did you build a model boat for the engine set up with boiler Carl. The Piccolo Easy line is very nice to rhavrane thanks for the link .

The Saito OB-1 best price was at Galaxy RC in Poland. Some others are charging 3X their price!

I am hoping the Mini will work in a 500mm boat my son and I are designing. The OB-1 drives the size if the boat; I hope not too much for the Mini. 400mm too small for me!
