"Acceptable in the 80'S"
« on: October 17, 2007, 11:52:26 pm »

With all this talk about Child protection and Political Correctness (The latter does not exist in our office) which is enough to scare people, I found this spoof song and video , and being a fan of Blake's Seven and hoping there are others out there who will enjoy this this clip..and bring back fond memories when you could have fun.. {-)

What about Benny Hill and the Hills Angels....now that was a show!!! If only we could get it on DVD, before you say you can? You can't get any of the shows from the 80's onwards!

Servalan was probably responsible for a huge number of spotty youths ruining their eyesight.  Single handed, so to speak.  I recall Blakes Seven as lacking in both Blake and Seven.
My past favourites were the "proper" Batman series - my son saw some on a nostalgia channel and nearly crippled himself laughing - and The Avengers.

Ghost's mention of "Allo, Allo" and the Germans reminds me of a story I heard on the radio many years ago.

Jeremy Lloyd, one of the writers, was being interviewed and described how they had tried to sell the series to a German TV Company.

After watching the show, the German executive turned to Lloyd and said "I zuppose you zink ve Germans are obsessed wiz punctuality and hev no zense of humour, Herr Lloyd?"

"Well," replied Lloyd, "You were here on time and you haven't laughed a lot!"

The great tragedy in all of this is that the greatest comedian and sleight of hand artist is now in Lisbon preparing and willing to give away everything you hold dear. Mark my words, and in the not too distant future you and your "hobbies" will be subject to a "Big-Brother" overseer. They just have'nt got around to it yet...but they will. Thank goodness that I spent most of my life free of these stupid beaurocratic constraints, but I worry a lot about what sort of country my children will inherit. BY.

Hi BY
So totally agree.. I was to young to remember and may have been in the States at the time but my work colleagues keep telling me how Enoch Powell predicted this years ago

I have long held the view that politicians have only very limited ability to improve things but there are no constraints whatsoever in the opposite direction.  >:(

There is an old "truism" that says that anyone who really wants to be elected should be avoided. I leave the reasons why up to you!
