I wonder why the N Gauge International Model Railway show, also run by Meridienne at the same venue but in September, is still going ahead.......

Maybe it's okay because it's on a smaller scale?

This might also be why the Midlands Engineering show has gone.

Obviously the problem is to get exhibitors and traders to commit well in advance. But in the current chaotic situation just who is going to be willing to do that, especially if you are of advancing years and still liable to catch the Covid Delta variant even if you have been vaccinated?

A few weeks ago the prospects looked good but now?

Visitors can leave things until much later to decide. Not so with exhibitors and traders.

Yes but if traders exibitors think that there might not be much foot flow they might not want to book.
I am but one person but regrettably I will not be attending any indoor shows this year.

With all this confusion going on and going round in circles we can only hope that 2022 will be the year we can all meet once again. On a personal note I enjoy the commercial shows and the smaller club open days something we have all missed .

Such as shame as we were planning some excellent displays for the show and some excellent pranks for Phil.
Hope to see you soon in 2022 :-))

I dont understand this decision to cancel, sports events such as premiere league football matches, music concerts etc where 1000s attend are ok to go on, but a model boat event gets cancelled!? %) ?

I suspect that they had their doubts as to whether enough elderly gentlemen would come from far and wide to give an adequate footfall. Blackpool seems to have gone off OK but I suspect it was a less expensive event to organise and we don't know whether it made a profit or loss.

Sadly, the decision was made earlier this year not to hold the 2021 Show due to the high uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic at the time when decisions had to be made.

We were very concerned with the unknown situation of what the winter months would be like and what restrictions would be in place.

For those of you who have commented that we ran our September model rail show – this was possible as the conditions in late summer were more stable and the risks far less.  We have sadly cancelled October 2021 events and also January 2022 events.

We are VERY pleased to confirm that we will be back in 2022 with the International Model Boat Show so please make a note in your diary now!

According to Mrs Stav, they all turned up
The only ones missing were the few who
had retired over the last couple of years.
Yes they did make a loss😞

I'm a bit confused - is the show on this weekend as previous posts suggested it was cancelled? Googled and it seems to be on?

Thanks
