Blackpool Model Show 2021
« on: May 17, 2021, 01:45:58 pm »

The show is on!

The dates for the show are the weekend of 16th - 17th October (Admin)

The government's "road map" has a full easing of restrictions from the 21st of June, so in theory events such as the Blackpool Model Show can take place after that time without any restrictions. OK, there is every chance that the date may slip &/or there still be some restrictions in place, but confidence is very high that we will be able to hold the show.

I have had many discussions with the hotel, insurers, government advisors & more, all say that we should be "safe" to hold the show, so that is what we are doing.

I have already contacted most of the clubs who have exhibited at the show previously & interest is high, should any club or individual wishing to exhibit at the show who has not heard from me, please get in touch (info@blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk)
The show web site  - https://www.blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk/   is currently being redesigned & should be live towards the end of this week, there will be more information there, including booking forms for both exhibitors & traders. We will soon add the option to purchase tickets to the site. At this moment we belive that it will still be possible to pay at the show rather than it being advance tickets only, but that may change in line with government guidelines. It will work out cheaper though if you buy tickets in advance. Ticket prices are still being worked out as I don't yet have all the costs, however there may have to be a slight increase from the last time the show was on due to some significant price increases.

Watch this space for more information as it becomes available....

Hi Iain ....... best wishes with your preparations in trying to arrange the Blackpool show. I'm sure there are many sensible friends out there in the model boating world who understand that those of us who get involved in the behind the scenes effort to bring shows together, are beavering away behind the scenes. Good luck in your planning.Best regards. Steve Dean.

Knew that there was something I missed from the post!
The dates for the show are the weekend of 16th - 17th October.

We will be offering accomodation at the Norbreck as well, just finalising the prices before advertising it, however the rates we will be offering are likely to be a good bit below those that are generally available from the hotel's web site. OK I know the Norbreck isn't the best hotel around, but there is alot to be said for the convenience of parking your car up on Friday & forgetting about it until its time to go home on Sunday (or Monday) so no driving around first thing in the morning looking for a parking space etc.Again, watch this space for further details....

Halls are perfectly fine for the show.

Not sure why this has suddenly become a hot topic on the Internet news sites as the Trip advisor reviews have never been that great in regards the Accommodation for quite some time.

But for some this could be the only Major MB show this year so wishing Iain good luck for 2021.

It's a Britannia chain hotel?  Nuff said for them:  When I was given them on business I got wise and had them extend the hire car so I could sleep in it at night instead of the filthy room then I had a cold shower in the hotel (never had hot water in a Britiannia), missed breakfast because it was inedible and just left.  Sign-in sign-out, but about 40mins inside at the most and try not to touch anything in fear of all the mould and dirt everywhere.  Dunno how they're still in business for private bookings -the coaches keep coming I guess!!!!

....These hotels have been like it for years.  No different year on year.  I rate very poorly any company who choses to side themself with Britania hotels over the last 10 years.
Hope the show goes ahead OK but I'm not surprised any concerns about accomodation  -Britannias are filthy holes and no wonder the government has been using them:  best avoided!  stay somewhere else (anywhere else!!).

Fortunately, it is Blackpool.  The place is awash with hotels and guest houses.
