electric motor set up suggestions for the pipedream?
« on: May 28, 2021, 12:40:03 am »

ok so here we have a pipedream its 50 inch long, about 14 inches wide and weighs around 8 pound completley empty..  i have beefed it up for rough water running..

In the video i have linked you can see the boats performance at around 4/5th throttle with
a 10cc glow motor..  a very tired old 61 at that time..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7K5WZR00DY

what i would like to know is what motor to get this sort of performance.

if i can get the sort of performance from electric as what i have in the video it would be fine.
a bit more would be better of course.
BUT .
i need it to last around 20 mins as it has to go a fair distance
.

 Any suggestion on this.?

Fit one of those fancy double convoluted torroidal two blades in one about as a re-invention of old props from. 1900's props no?  They're supposed to be the best out there according to your other post? No?

Did i  ask about a propeller ? No...
.
.
.
.

But on the other topic it was not ACCORDING to me, its whats been proven to be a great propeller around
the world and now fitted to many boats , ships and military vessels.

What i did infact say was its a very old idea and NOT a new invention !!!,
the new sharrow company  just got the old patents and revived it and claim its their invention.
Anyone can do that when you buy old patents or wait till one runs out then claim you have a new idea.
Elon musk has done very well with doing exactly this, he had the braisn to give it a go..

here is a link to a page that shows photo's to back up what i wrote about it being a very old idea ....

Hi Phil
I think the Merco 61 Mk4 was about 13000 rpm and 1.1/1.2 BHP .

A 50mm 600kv or 700kv (about 1500Watts) on 6S Turnigy Bolt 5800mah plus would fit your requirements.

As for prop start with the one you have to compare !!!

yes i think in the video that motor was an old irvine 61.
i did replace it later on with a much newer irvine that was a lot quicker. that boat saw many different experimental engine plants.
i now think its time it got ELECTRIFIED ha ha

if i get get a decent run time i will be happy with performance like in the video..

i got plenty of props to try from 40 size glow to 90 size glow so could have the right ones
