Hi Geoff

Our superstructures are the same height: 38-40mm and are about 120mm wide on average along the straightest sections.
Stanchions are going on using brass items (20mm high) with brass rod for the wire.

I should open another bottle of red wine!  :-) :-)

I still can't make up my mind. Overall I think it would be nicer to continue the build using as much of the original structure as possible thus remaining true to the original builders dream and accept the inaccuracies. On the other hand if I replace the whole superstructure a much better model would result - now where is my wine glass!!

Cheers and thank you for the additional info.

What scale are you working to as the model seems to be 1/48?

Hi Geoff

We worked out that the model we have is approximately 1/64 scale due to the length of the hull being 70 inches long over all although certain features are closer to 1/48 scale.
It would be great to meet up to compare models we would have to work out where we could meet up.

Hi Geoff

We are in the Kettering area which has the mayhem lake on our local lake. I’m happy to take the model there if you are but it’ll be a distance for yourself to bring yours. Is that okay for you?

That’s better! Last trial had speed controller problems with one refusing to switch to opposite drive. Replaced with some that we know work and she sails like a dream. A drop of water inside the battery bay concerned us thinking we had another leak but we remembered that we had carried out a rather tight turn and water slid across the amidships area. A bit of sealant around the flush hatches should fix the problem. I’ve made a 4 barrelled Pom Pom and torpedo tubes. Just need to construct the 0.5in machine guns on the bridge wings and finish off the ships boats and we should be on the home run to return it to the original owner.

Thank you Phil. The original was definitely for straight running by the design of the rudder mechanical setup! You’d definitely feel it if it run in to in the lake %)
