Sheerline dive system
« on: June 08, 2021, 07:12:48 pm »

Hi out there. I just purchased a sheerline submarine. The fault with the sub is the dive system. The submarine dives, but unless the water pump is running the sub will surface. My understanding is that the valve that keeps the water in the dive tank is at fault. Can anyone please explain to me what too test and check for, thanks

Google sheerline pinch valve will bring up a host of info. It’s a very basic system.

The system uses a pinch plunger and ball bearing to crush the silicone tube closed , the servo has a cam carved from a standard servo disc, full transmitter lever one way activates the water pump via a micro switch at the same time the pinch pressure is removed from the plunger , releasing the lever restores pinch pressure , it is possible that cam disc is worn or the silicon tube has worn , the tube runs through a cross drilled plastic block containing a plunger , tube and ball bearing , sometimes water will be retained in the ballast tank , blow into the tank via the silicone tube , this increases the air pressure in the tank and forces out any remaining water , hope this helps
