Oheka II - any info please?
« on: October 19, 2007, 08:12:34 pm »

Via email from Germany...

I've found this but can anyone point us to any other info?
http://www.prinzeugen.com/DesignManufacture.htm

I was thinking about pointing him to my build of the  Robbe S-130 ... but thought better of it!    ;D

Hi Mayhem,
Can anyone help with detail s of the Otto Herman Kahn's luxury yacht Oheka II the grandfather of the Schnellboot.

Henry.

This is my boat so far.....

Nice model, I suppose it is based on an E-Boat hull, what does one do about the knuckle?
Perhaps Lurssen have something on file still, it's worth a try I would have thought.
There's some more photos and a GA drawing here;

I am building a model of the Oheka II also. At 1:20 scale.

The Oheka II was built before any of the E-Boats (Schnellboot in German) were designed and its performance  was so good that the E-boat were designed as larger more powerful versuions of it regarding the hull shape.

I contacted Lürssen and received a better plan than the one at the link
 http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/lurssen-yacht/146-oheka-ii-lurseen-yachts-22-5m-built-1927-a.html

They also mentioned a book: Fock, Harald "Die Deutschen Schnellboote 1914-1945.
This was an interesting book however there was no usable info on the Oheka II in it.

The German model boat magazine: SchiffsModell from Jan 1992 and March 1992 has an article on the Oheka II.

Hope this helps.

Does any one have any photos of the deck and cabin? I have not been able to find any.

Quick reply, thanks, kit.

That is a step in the right direction.
However the photo from the side in the first post does not have the name written on the side and the port holes are placed differently (there should be 7) so I am not certain I trust it.

Where do you get 7 portholes from ? All the photos on the web show 6.

Hi Dicky,

The rearmost porthole (number 7 from the front) is hidden behind the spray from the bow.

If you look at the link posted by cscd123 and count the postholes in the drawing, there are 7.
Also the placement of the first porthole in relation to the rubbing list varies.

I Have attempted to include a drawing showing this

I have found a couple of different drawings on the internet and they all show 7 portholes on the top view.
Some do only show 6 on the side view so that creates the confusion.
in addition the portholes must fit with the internal bulkheads etc.
