« on: June 24, 2021, 02:30:10 pm »

Hi All Sailing a refurbished 1/24th scale Deans Marine kit Sir Robert Peel Not run for 20 + years, A good clean up and re grease, replace some damaged fittings and new lighter batteries Still all original gear including Bobs Boards speed controller and off to the lake for a test run at the Peterborough area model boat club lake. Model is 692mm length beam 152mm single motor on 6 volts. Having a repair and clean up session in the showroom, some boats have had a hard working life being dragged around shows all over the U.K. and Europe so abused and neglected over the years. no shows for over a year now and none in future dates as yet,
so time for repair sessions.  SIR ROBERT PEEL      /   PATRICK CALHOUN                      POLICE LAUNCH
This model is of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s launch ‘Sir Robert Peel’ OR her sister ship ‘Patrick Colquhoun’These attractive vessels are based at Wapping Police Depot on the river Thames; not far from Tower Bridge.
The crafts are not just show pieces but are part of the Thames Fleet of police launches and are worked just as hard, necessitating overhauls every six months.  With their Green hulls and Light Mahogany cabin, they are some of the most attractive and well-known craft to be seen on the Thames.  A top speed of 22knots from their twin Perkins engines makes them one of the fastest of the river police launches.
The latest craft to bear these famous names are constructed by Halmatic Limited on a heavy-duty glassfibre hull, with handcrafted superstructure in mahogany.

Just on the matter of greasing, do you still use the Vaseline/3in1/WD40 concoction?
