I bought this started kit a few weeks back I thing I'm third in line to have a go at it.
My first job is to strip it out and start again the korts are misaligned and none of the adhesive used has taken or been keyed in so a full re-kit is in order I think.

It wasn't bad a lot cheaper than a new kit it came apart easily enough prop shafts and woodwork just cracked out nothing keyed in. It had different korts fitted not the MMM ones so I'll re fit those one has been repaired but needs a little work lots of grinding back done so lots to fill and make good.
At least I can line up the motors properly they were in squint one higher than the other. Lots of fun.

I'm sorry to bother you with this Dave,
but as a non-English speaker, what does "keying in" mean?
I've worked more than five years on my build and I have not - that I know of at least - keyed in anything.

Keying just means roughening both of the surfaces so the adhesive grips better.


See some of the pictures where the old adhesive has just pulled off leaving the impression of the other surface on it. A sign that is was not cleaned or rough sanded.

If the glue is a solvent type glue that's deigned to melt both surfaces they then bond together like a weld. Other glues like araldite and super glue tend to need a key to help them grip the ridges and furrows increase the surface area they can hold onto. Wood glues partly soak into the wood and grip that way.

Things moving on gradually the kit korts were cracked so I routed the cracks and filled with stablitt the korts and shafts now fitted using the same .
Some filling to do now and fare it all in.
