The ultimate in masking
« on: July 30, 2021, 08:53:46 pm »

Just a few pictures to show the ultimate in masking. This had to be done due shade problems with the paint I E the superstructure was not the same shade as the hull. The superstructure now looks like an Egyptian mummy tot am Grand Banks :-) I will post more picture when all the masking is removed.

What tape are you using Stan?

I noticed Lidl or Aldi were doing a Premium Masking tape last week....

Hi Stan,

Not sure if you are like me and have a strangely satisfying feeling when masking up?  I don't know what it is but I find it quite theraputic when the tape plays right.  I have the opposite feeling when removing it though!  I tend to use allot of post-it notes these days having seen the technique on-line a few years ago.  The sticky edge is great for tacking them in-place until a line of tamiya tape is run across for the proper edge.  Otherwise, like you, sometimes it's just easier to use masking tape.  I know it's not the cheapest but I get on really well with 3M Blue contractors tape.  Maybe I get away with it because I use allot paper inbetween so its a tolerable cost.

99 ways to skin a cat though.  I'm more impressed that you get on so well with the paints you use -especially white.
