Unknown Hull
« on: July 31, 2021, 11:33:40 am »

So just trying to find out if this was a commercial hull and by who and what it is. I bought this at a show , probably like many for one of those that would be cool projects well over 10 years ago but am probably looking to move it on , aim was to build a Horror film boat I had seen many years ago but can not remember which one. Possibly Death ship , but I remember dead bodies coming out of a pool !!! %% %%

So hoping some one might recognise the Hull.

The 3rd picture is the ship from Death Ship 1983

It is 49 Inches Long, by 8 Inches wide, Fibreglass and looks well moulded, have looked through old mags at the manufactures but not found anything yet.

Re the film, all I seem to be able to remember is that it was a couple an they either found them selves mysteriously on the ship like you do and that bodies from the pool were trying to pull them in, but I do not remember it being a liner or such. Not sure if there were any scenes like that in Amityville or such.

To me it looks like the "Pateke", originally was an ABCO hull and then was moulded by the other companies which aquired those moulds.

Thanks Mcwee, the M.V Pateke seems a very close match.
If this is the Hull, then the mould looks like it may have changed ownership over the Years - ABCO - Metcalf - Models by Design and then Mountfleet, however I can not be certain about this lineage and this could all be wrong.  %%

My goodness this perturbed me for some time.  I did not think to check the modelboats forum for the list of Vic smeed plans but that's where I saw as close as it is  before.  It's a nice looking vessel.

I was out of the country last cpl of weeks and could only find trailers for "death ship", I'll try looking again now I'm back as depends where you are what access there is to movies.  I'm intrigued by it.
